Like all American is, we went to bed at night knowing we<br \/>\nlived in the greatest country in the history of the world.<\/p>\n<p>God bless Neil Armstrong.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, that American flag is still there on the Moon.<br \/>\nand I don&#8217;t doubt for a second that Neil Armstrong&#8217;s spirit is<br \/>\nstill with us. \u00a0That unique blend of optimism, humility, and the<br \/>\nutter confidence that, when the world needs someone to do that,<br \/>\nyou need an American.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That was a excerpt from the soaring rhetoric from Mitt Romney&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2012\/08\/30\/transcript-mitt-romney-speech-at-rnc\/\">speech<\/a> last night from the RNC.\u00a0 The libs think the last line is code directed at birthers, but rational people understand it&#8217;s about American exceptionalism.\u00a0 The libs might be forgiven for thinking their way, because the older ones might have hated America back then and the younger ones don&#8217;t remember a time when we were enthusiastic about something besides electing a young president who seduces them with lines about hoping and changing stuff like the sea level.<\/p>\n<p>Back then America had plenty of bad things going on, like political assassinations and Vietnam.\u00a0 But there was also enthusiasm about progress and the future and where we were going.\u00a0 That might have been a carryover from World War II, I don&#8217;t know, but somewhere along the line it fizzled out.\u00a0 We didn&#8217;t go to Mars and we don&#8217;t have flying cars and robots to serve us.\u00a0 We had moved from the first man in space to walking on the Moon in less than ten years, but we didn&#8217;t go any farther than that.<\/p>\n<p>I blame the left, of course, and I&#8217;m right about that.\u00a0 The left can suck the joy out a country more effectively than anything I can think of, but it takes time and it&#8217;s because we let them.\u00a0 Enemies from outside can bring a people together, but rot from within is harder to deal with because it permeates our very being until the leftism is just there all the time, like a heartbeat we don&#8217;t notice.<\/p>\n<p>The culmination is Barack Obama who has no faith in us as a nation.\u00a0 When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gives a speech, he shows pride in his country.\u00a0 Try to imagine that coming from BHO, or any member of the Democrat party these days.\u00a0 You can&#8217;t, not like people used to.\u00a0 Once that sinks in, a person starts to understand just how discouraged we&#8217;ve become and it&#8217;s reflected in who we send to Washington.\u00a0 An optimistic people don&#8217;t send such people anywhere except out of our sight.<\/p>\n<p>Mitt Romney told us we can recover our lost enthusiasm.\u00a0 I suspect he can help get us moving in the right direction and believe he sincerely wants to, but we have to put him in office first.\u00a0 BHO offers us nothing.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To be an American was to assume that all things were possible. \u00a0When President Kennedy challenged Americans to go to the moon, the challenge was not whether we would get there, it was only when we&#8217;d get there.
