See this headline? Multiple suspensions paint complicated portrait of Trayvon Martin. It’s only “complicated” because the media’s narrative is falling apart. They’ve been painting a picture of a clean cut youth “gunned down” by a “white Hispanic,” whatever that is. It’s turning out this clean cut youth has been in trouble several times at school. But it’s not complicated at all, really.
That suspension was followed four months later by another one in February, in which Trayvon was caught with an empty plastic bag with traces of marijuana in it. A schools police report obtained by The Miami Herald specifies two items: a bag with marijuana residue and a “marijuana pipe.”
Okay, this is simple, but apparently beyond the reach of the standard newspaper reporter these days. Here’s what happened. He used the “marijuana pipe” to smoke what was in the baggie. And I suspect he was bummed that he was out, like any self-respecting doper. You smoke it all and then you don’t have any and you look for some more. I suspect in this particular instance, however, he was glad it was all gone because it’s better to be caught with an empty bag than a full one.
Trayvon was shot to death Feb. 26 while serving out his suspension in Sanford, where his father’s girlfriend lives. A neighborhood watch volunteer called the police to say he saw someone in a hoodie who looked high on drugs, and was suspicious because he walked too slowly in the rain. The unarmed teenager carried Skittles and iced tea, and was talking to his girlfriend on the phone, records show.
This is also simple. He was walking slowly in the rain because he was stoned. He’d found some more dope. That’s what it does to you. It mellows you out, causes you to walk slowly. And for those who are not hoofing it, it also causes people to drive without lights at night if they had been parked in a well-lighted area. It’s bright enough out for them to see okay, so they don’t even think about turning on their lights. The Skittles were for the munchies, although chocolate chip cookies are better. How do I know these things? You hear stories here and there.
