“Ultimately, I am confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress,”
What should have been said…
“Ultimately, I am hoping that the Supreme Court will not shoot down a law that barely passed in a Democrat-party controlled Congress,”
It barely passed 219-212, and that was with a Democrat party majority everywhere in the federal government. Regardless, it’s a diversion and is ultimately irrelevant. It could pass by one vote or be unanimous, and the Supreme Court should decide on the constitutionality and nothing else. Obama should know this, and maybe he does. If he doesn’t know it, he must have been the worst constitutional law professor ever. Worst. Ever. If he does know it, he’s hoping to hoodwink enough people into voting for him again. The latter is more likely, of course, because the Democrat party has had great success in assuming stupidity on the part of the voters.
An an aside, and still irrelevant, the House of Representatives voted to repeal the law 245-189, a far greater margin than it passed by. Using Obama’s reasoning, that’s good enough reason for the Supreme Court to decide against it, LOL.
