And do it better than Sam Torres, City Council member of Indio, California. Indio is a small city east of Palm Springs. If you want to drive from San Bernardino to Phoenix, you’ll pass through Indio. It’s about halfway between the ocean and the Arizona state line. Fine you say, but how do I know he’s a member of the Democrat Party? Well, I’ve deduced it.
1) He was “recognized” (whatever that means) by Veterans for Peace (whatever that is) as shown on the Democrat Women of the Desert (whoever they are) website. Tell me he’s a Republican, yeah.
2) He wanted to tax tickets to music festivals that take place yearly at Indio. That failed.
Both indicate he’s Democrat party, but he fell short on the second. One major music festival simply said they’d hold it somewhere else, which is to be expected. Kind of like Atlas Shrugging. It’s a big state in a big country, and no doubt they could find a better venue to hold it. One that didn’t want to impose another tax on them. Instead of collecting taxes from all the business and occupancy the festival brings to Indio, and it’s a lot, they wouldn’t be getting shit. This is key.
Mr. Torres should have taxed the music festival for not holding it in Indio, and called it a penalty. We know that can be done because Chief Justice Roberts of the Supreme Court showed all the members of the Democrat party all across the country how it could be done. It would end up in the 9th Circuit, and they’d have to pay up and probably have to pay legal costs for opposing the tax in the first place. Problem solved.
