White House Wage Gap, Heh Heh

The left has one of its issues near at hand.

All of President Barack Obama’s employees may not be treated equally in the White House, as recently released financial records show that female employees earn significantly less than their male counterparts.

Not surprising.  The left isn’t big on leading by example.  They’re typically no better than those they accuse and quite often worse offenders of whatever it is they’re spouting off about any particular week.  Like when they’re lecturing on civility.  It’s hard to be more uncivil than a disgruntled leftist, and they’re usually disgruntled about something.  It’s just what they do.

You have to read the foreign papers to find out about stuff like this.  I mean, you’re not going to hear about it on the mainstream liberal media, who have been in the tank for our young president ever since he hit the national scene after voting present as an obscure state legislator.  The foreign press are the ones who tell us what’s really going on, rather than transcribing whatever the White House faxes to them.  They did get one detail wrong, however.

Unlike in previous years, Mr Obama may be held to a greater degree of accountability on the issue now as both parties paint the other as waging a war against women.

No, he won’t be held to any accountability.  The right might bring this up as an example of liberal hypocrisy, and they’d be correct.  But nobody listens to the right, other than other rightists.  (The mainstream media reporting what Media Matters tells them Rush just said doesn’t count.)  The left isn’t about to hold BHO accountable because they really don’t care, although they’re the ones who have made wage disparity an issue.  The left has it as an issue, and like all of their issues, just having it is sufficient.  They have no interest in solving any of them, because issues are useful in capturing squares on the cultural war chessboard.  Solving them would be like losing pieces.

Obama Is So Smart, None of Us Lesser Folk Can Understand Him

That’s a standard spin whenever BHO says something ridiculous.  This time it was when he commented on the function of the Supreme Court.  The spin came from Jay Carney, who is shaping up to be a first-rate Democrat party press secretary.

What I acknowledged yesterday is that speaking on Monday the president was not clearly understood by some people because he is a law professor, he spoke in shorthand.

As a recap, this is what Obama said:

Ultimately, I am confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress, and I’d just remind conservative commentators that, for years, what we have heard is, the biggest problem on the bench was judicial activism, or a lack of judicial restraint, that an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law. Well, this is a good example, and I’m pretty confident that this court will recognize that and not take that step.

Now the casual reader of average intelligence will take it to mean that if Congress passes a law, the Supreme Court has no business overturning it.  And that the margin the law passes by is a factor, just in case the Supreme Court gets a little carried away.  And the fact that Congress is elected and the Supreme Court is appointed give Congress the right to pass anything without question, as long as it was controlled by the Democrat party at the time.  If that’s the case, an appointed senator would have less influence in the Senate, one would think.

But no, according to Carney, it was law professor shorthand and the rest of us can’t comprehend it.  My hat’s off to Mr. Carney.  He’s doing what a Democrat party press secretary should be doing, and that is explaining away his boss’s gaffes with a straight face and without regard for how ridiculous he sounds doing it.  The last one who could perform at that level was Mike McCurry, press secretary for Bill Clinton.

Liberals think balanced reporting is biased reporting.  The only reporting they approve of is typical mainstream media reporting from a DNC fax.  Obama confirmed this April 3rd.

“I guess another way of thinking about this–and this bears on your reporting–I think that there is oftentimes the impulse to suggest that if the two parties are disagreeing that they are equally at fault and the truth lies somewhere in the middle, equivalence is presented, which reinforces people’s cynicism about Washington in general,” Obama said. “This is not a situation where there is equivalence.”

Fresh after delivering a lecture to the Supreme Court, Barry Obama is lecturing the press on how they shouldn’t show objectivity in reporting about whatever he’s up to, as if they ever do.  We know that’s how the Democrat party feels, but they typically don’t come right out and lecture their media allies about their assigned function.  They don’t need to, because the press will dutifully comply without being told to.

By the way, I’m curious about this not being a situation where this is equivalence.  When has it ever been?  Even when Obama had a filibuster-proof senate, he was blaming Republicans for blocking his agenda.  That hardly implies equivalence.  This president is becoming more of an embarrassment every day.  We can only hope we have less than a year of this to endure.

Constitutional Law Professor Needs to Be Corrected on ObamaCare Vote

What President Obama said

“Ultimately, I am confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress,”

What should have been said…

“Ultimately, I am hoping that the Supreme Court will not shoot down a law that barely passed in a Democrat-party controlled Congress,”

It barely passed 219-212, and that was with a Democrat party majority everywhere in the federal government.  Regardless, it’s a diversion and is ultimately irrelevant.  It could pass by one vote or be unanimous, and the Supreme Court should decide on the constitutionality and nothing else.  Obama should know this, and maybe he does.  If he doesn’t know it, he must have been the worst constitutional law professor ever.  Worst.  Ever.  If he does know it, he’s hoping to hoodwink enough people into voting for him again.  The latter is more likely, of course, because the Democrat party has had great success in assuming stupidity on the part of the voters.

An an aside, and still irrelevant, the House of Representatives voted to repeal the law 245-189, a far greater margin than it passed by.  Using Obama’s reasoning, that’s good enough reason for the Supreme Court to decide against it, LOL.

Global Warming Effects, the Closest You Can Come to Infinity

It’s all in this list.  Global warming can cause anything and everything, including the earth’s rotation both slowing and speeding up.  There is nothing that can’t be attributed to global warming, including another ice age.  Yes, that is in there.  I didn’t make it up.

What they’re pulling is an amazing scam.  “Scientists” say that human activity is heating the planet up and it will cause an extensive list of effects.  Okay, but they’ve defined the effects in such a way that any change on the planet, local or global, confirms their claims.  All bases are covered.  So how can you prove they’re wrong?  It’s hard to disprove something when opposite results can be attributed to the same cause.  Maybe this is what Algore meant when he said the science is settled.

It’s really more of a religion than science at this point.  No matter what is predicted, no leftist is going to argue against it.  They never do, no matter how ridiculous the claim.  They believe it all, and think they’re more enlightened than the rest of us.  But I have a question for the warmists, who call us climate skeptics as if we’re skeptical climate exists at all.  Which headlines are true, and which are false?  You libs think you’re smarter than us, so check out these headlines and tell us which ones are right.  (Each lib should be put into a separate room and answer individually, so we’ll know they’re not reading from the same script like the mainstream media types do when they report on the president.)

Realistically, no action should be taken based on any of this nonsense.  No carbon regulations, no new taxes, no legislation, nothing.  It shouldn’t even get in the news anymore, unless there is a grand jury investigation into this scam.  And we should get our light bulbs back.

Should Americans Be Forced to Buy Broccoli?

A liberal will say yes, because broccoli is good for you and health care is expensive.  It’s for the common good.

A conservative will say no, because it should be the consumer’s choice and government is growing too intrusive.

The average American who doesn’t follow politics will give an answer dependent upon whether or not they like broccoli.  If they like it, they’ll say, “Well, I like broccoli and it’s good for you.”  The concept of choice won’t register in their brain cells.  If they don’t like broccoli, they’ll shake their heads and mutter a little bit about damn politicians, but won’t know which party to blame.  Within a week, they’ll be buying the required amount of broccoli and will have forgotten the government mandated it.

The Simplest Things Are “Complicated” for the Liberal Media

See this headline?  Multiple suspensions paint complicated portrait of Trayvon Martin.  It’s only “complicated” because the media’s narrative is falling apart.  They’ve been painting a picture of a clean cut youth “gunned down” by a “white Hispanic,” whatever that is.  It’s turning out this clean cut youth has been in trouble several times at school.  But it’s not complicated at all, really.

That suspension was followed four months later by another one in February, in which Trayvon was caught with an empty plastic bag with traces of marijuana in it. A schools police report obtained by The Miami Herald specifies two items: a bag with marijuana residue and a “marijuana pipe.”

Okay, this is simple, but apparently beyond the reach of the standard newspaper reporter these days.  Here’s what happened.  He used the “marijuana pipe” to smoke what was in the baggie.  And I suspect he was bummed that he was out, like any self-respecting doper.  You smoke it all and then you don’t have any and you look for some more.  I suspect in this particular instance, however, he was glad it was all gone because it’s better to be caught with an empty bag than a full one.

Trayvon was shot to death Feb. 26 while serving out his suspension in Sanford, where his father’s girlfriend lives. A neighborhood watch volunteer called the police to say he saw someone in a hoodie who looked high on drugs, and was suspicious because he walked too slowly in the rain. The unarmed teenager carried Skittles and iced tea, and was talking to his girlfriend on the phone, records show.

This is also simple.  He was walking slowly in the rain because he was stoned.  He’d found some more dope.  That’s what it does to you.  It mellows you out, causes you to walk slowly.  And for those who are not hoofing it, it also causes people to drive without lights at night if they had been parked in a well-lighted area.  It’s bright enough out for them to see okay, so they don’t even think about turning on their lights.  The Skittles were for the munchies, although chocolate chip cookies are better.  How do I know these things?  You hear stories here and there.

All Mics Are Live

Just like all guns are loaded.  Assume a gun is loaded, and there won’t be any mishaps like you read about now and then.  Likewise, all microphones are on.  They aren’t, of course, but assume they are and you won’t let the truth slip out when reporters can overhear it.  Our president is still a rookie.  Four years into his term, and he makes a rookie mistake a junior senator from Illinois should know not to do.  Here’s what he said.

President Obama: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space.

President Medvedev: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…

President Obama: This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.

President Medvedev: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.

So he’s saying that he’ll do a lot of stuff next year that he won’t do this year, because this is an election year and he won’t have another election.  We all knew that, of course.  It’s not exactly a revelation, but it’s still nice to hear it for real.  At least he’s not going to go for three terms, as more than a few have suggested.
